Family Policy Council Dropout Reduction Project
May - October 2008. Family Policy Council of Washington State, Building Bridges Workgroup, School Dropout Reduction Project.
Clegg & Associates worked with Family Policy Council staff and members of the Research-Based and Best Practices Committee (including prevention, intervention, and reengagement) of the Building Bridges Workgroup to learn how communities in Washington have succeeded in reducing school dropout. Through focus groups and key informant interviews, we examined the strategies undertaken in four communities that made significant gains in recent years in lowering their school dropout rate. Four case studies and a summary of key learnings provided the Family Policy Council and Building Bridges Workgroup with information to help in their deliberation of evidence-based and emerging practices. Clegg & Associates also facilitated the Building Bridges Workgroup retreat to help the group craft preliminary recommendations on dropout prevention for the Washington State Legislature.
The project concluded in October 2008. The findings are contained in a report viewable in our Client Report section.
